Change Happens Foundation provides grant funding to 501(c)(3) public charities, prioritizing organizations with national or global reach while also offering community grants concentrated in Iowa and occasionally in the San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Barbara County, the Puget Sound area, and Portland. No specific award amounts or deadlines are specified. Applicants must be U.S.-based 501(c)(3) public charities (not private foundations) with at least two years of Form 990 filings verified via GuideStar CharityCheck; organizations based outside the U.S. are ineligible. The foundation excludes direct advocacy, faith-based activities, endowments, scholarships, special events, and organizations with discriminatory policies; applicants begin with an online fit assessment and, if invited, submit a detailed proposal and meet virtually with a Co‑Executive Director before a full board decision (secure AI tools may assist review, but final determinations are made by staff and trustees).
