About this program

The Charles H. Hood Foundation’s Child Health Research Awards Program provides two-year grants of $200,000 ($100,000/year, inclusive of 10% indirect costs) to support early-career investigators in developing independent research that advances the health and well-being of children. Awards are open to newly independent faculty at nonprofit academic, medical, or research institutions located in the New England region and support work across disciplines relevant to child health (basic science, clinical investigation, public health, health services research, epidemiology, etc.). The application uses a two-step review—submission of a brief Concept Paper followed by invitation-only Full Proposals—and selected applicants for the September 2026 cycle will be notified by the end of May; applicants should review the full guidelines and FAQs before applying.
