Chicago Folklore Prize

About this program

The American Folklore Society and the University of Chicago jointly offer the Chicago Folklore Prize, an international award recognizing the best book-length work of folklore scholarship, accompanied by a cash prize. Eligible works may span folklore, cultural studies, ethnomusicology, literary studies, anthropology, sociology, cultural geography, and dance ethnology. Publishers worldwide may submit monographs published within the 15 months before the April 15 annual deadline; articles, dissertations, reissues without substantial revision, edited works, and works in progress are ineligible. Publishers must submit four hard copies or, for electronic-only books, a PDF or download instructions to the AFS by the deadline.
