ChLA Faculty Research Grant

About this program

The Children’s Literature Association (ChLA) offers Faculty Research Grants of $500–$1,500, with up to $5,000 available annually, to support critical or original scholarship in children’s literature that is expected to lead to publication. Funds may cover research expenses such as travel, materials, supplies, or release time; projects focused on children’s or adolescent fantasy and science fiction may receive the Margaret P. Esmonde Memorial Grant. Applicants must submit a proposal, cover page, and vita in English by February 1, and projects must not involve degree, thesis, dissertation, textbook, or pedagogical work. Recipients must be ChLA members or join before receiving funds, and are required to submit a progress or completion report the following spring.
