About this program

The Community Foundation of Central Georgia offers the Christine Riggins Shepherd Scholarship to provide annual college scholarships to students from Lamar, Pike, Monroe, Upson, or Spalding counties in Georgia who will attend Georgia Southern University, with preference given to applicants from Lamar County. Applicants must be graduates of an accredited high school in one of the listed counties, be pursuing their first undergraduate degree, and meet and maintain the minimum cumulative GPA required for Georgia's HOPE Scholarship (currently 3.00). Award amounts vary with at least one scholarship awarded each year; prior recipients may renew for up to four years if they continue to meet eligibility and follow-up requirements, and applicants should apply via the Community Foundation of Central Georgia scholarship portal by the listed February 28 deadline.
