About this program

The Entomological Society of America’s Chrysalis Fund offers micro (<$500), regular ($500–$999) and large ($1,000–$2,500) grants to support creative, hands‑on K–12 educational projects that engage students with insects and other arthropods, funding supplies, services, travel, and compensation. Applications are accepted each spring (March through June 1) for projects in the following academic year; applicants are notified mid‑September, funds are generally disbursed before October 1, projects must be completed by July 31 of the award year and final reports are due by October 1. Eligible applicants include K–12 educators, teachers, schools and community outreach programs, with priority for insect‑focused work (other terrestrial and freshwater arthropods also eligible); funds may not be used for prior work or administrative/overhead costs, and awards may be partially funded based on committee budget.
