Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

About this program

UCAR’s Cooperative Programs for the Advancement of Earth System Science (CPAESS) offers a two-year Climate and Global Change Postdoctoral Fellowship for independent research advancing understanding of Earth systems, climate change, energy, decarbonization, and related human-environment interactions. Fellows conduct research with a mentoring scientist at a U.S. university, research institution, federal laboratory, or FFRDC. Applicants must hold a climate-related PhD by the fellowship start date, with preference for recent graduates within three years of the application deadline and those seeking their first postdoctoral position; U.S. citizenship is not required. Advance contact with a host is required, and applications—including a personal statement, CV, original five-page research proposal, host materials, and two references—are due October 16, 2026.
