COA Academic Grants for Malacological Research

About this program

The Conchologists of America (COA) offers grants of up to $2,500 for field or laboratory research on recent or fossil mollusks and other malacology-related projects, with approximately $25,000 available annually. Eligible applicants must propose a self-contained malacological project; graduate students and degree-seeking students must provide advisor or professional recommendation letters, while high school applicants are ineligible and undergraduates are rarely funded. Applications are limited to five single-spaced pages plus a one-page CV, must exclude equipment and institutional overhead, and are due electronically by February 28 each year. Awardees must submit a project summary within one year.
