About this program

The Black Hills Area Community Foundation offers the Community Action Grant to support nonprofits with innovative ideas, emphasizing community partnerships and sustainable practices. Two grants are awarded annually: one for $20,000 and one for $50,000. Eligible applicants must be IRS 501(c)(3) public charities, schools, government entities, or religious organizations with an agency endowment fund at BHACF, and activities must occur within specified counties in the Black Hills area. Ineligible projects include religious or political activities, fundraisers, debt retirement, and capital campaigns, with funds not reimbursing pre-grant expenses. The application period opens on June 1, 2025, and closes on July 13, 2025.
