Community Heart & Soul Planning, Technical Assistance, and Seed Grant Program

About this program

Community Heart & Soul, a foundation supporting resident‑driven community development, offers planning support, technical assistance, and $10,000 Seed Grants to help small cities and towns implement its four‑phase Heart & Soul process (Imagine, Connect, Plan, Act). The program supports activities like volunteerism, leadership development, business and healthcare access, transportation and broadband improvements, emergency preparedness, and adoption of Heart & Soul statements into local plans. Eligible applicants are U.S. municipalities and territories with populations under 30,000, including communities just beginning the Heart & Soul process, and participating communities must work with Certified Heart & Soul Coaches. Grantees must provide a $10,000 cash match from the municipality or a partner, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis via the program website.
