Community Opportunities Grant Program

About this program

The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois (CFNIL) offers the Community Opportunities Grant Program to provide flexible funding for emerging opportunities and unforeseen crises. This program supports 501(c)(3) nonprofits located in or serving Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, and Winnebago Counties, with grants up to $5,000 per application. Eligible proposals must address emergencies impacting client services, leverage matching funds, or seize time-sensitive opportunities benefiting a broad constituency, excluding standard operating expenses. Applicants can receive one grant annually and may not apply in consecutive years; organizations must contact James Patterson to discuss their proposal before applying.
