Conflict & Peace Reporting Grants

About this program

The Pulitzer Center provides grants to journalists and newsrooms for in-depth reporting on conflict, its global impacts, underreported issues, and potential pathways to peace, including projects requiring additional resources for safe reporting in conflict zones. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and should include a project description of up to 250 words, preliminary budget, distribution plan, and— for freelancers reporting from war zones—an editor’s letter confirming the outlet’s full responsibility for the journalist’s safety and well-being. Proposals are evaluated based on reporting plans, experience, safety training, language skills, and commitment to reflecting the communities covered. Books, feature-length films, staff salaries, equipment purchases, routine breaking news, and projects focused solely on academic research are generally ineligible.
