Convening Grants

About this program

The Terra Foundation for American Art offers Convening Grants of $10,000–$25,000 to support conversations, symposia, and workshops that advance interdisciplinary and intercultural exchange concerning the visual arts of the United States and Indigenous arts of North America. Funding may support planning or implementation costs for in-person, virtual, or hybrid convenings, including fees, travel, accessibility services, dissemination, and outreach. Eligible applicants include U.S. 501(c)(3) organizations or international equivalents, such as museums, universities, research centers, foundations, and community-based cultural organizations; individuals are not eligible, and organizations funded by Terra within the previous year may not apply. For programs after May 1, 2027, inquiries are due September 28, 2026, and proposals by invitation are due November 30, 2026; for programs after November 1, 2027, the corresponding deadlines are February 16 and April 20, 2027.
