Culture, Language, and Identity Grant Program

About this program

The American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA) funds the Culture, Language, and Identity Grant Program to support projects that identify and appropriately respond to cultural, linguistic, and identity influences across clinical, educational, and professional speech‑language‑hearing programs and allied organizations. Awards are expected to average $7,000–$10,000 (maximum $15,000) for projects to be completed within 15 months, and ASHA retains first right of refusal for marketing or dissemination of any products developed. Eligible applicants include clinical and school‑based programs, university programs, state associations, and allied/related professional organizations, and an ASHA member must serve as project director. Proposals must align with ASHA’s mission, present a clear, high‑quality plan with sustainability after ASHA funding, focus on culture/language/identity (preferably expanding access or ensuring culturally responsive services), and grant funds may not be used for fundraising, lobbying, awards, nonessential equipment/supplies, or convention expenses.
