Damon Runyon Clinical Investigator Award

About this program

The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation’s Clinical Investigator Award supports independent young physician-scientists conducting innovative, disease-oriented clinical, translational, outcomes, or cancer-prevention research. The three-year award provides $600,000 ($200,000 annually) for research support, including salary, personnel, equipment, and supplies, with up to $100,000 in qualifying medical school debt repayment. Applicants must hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD, be U.S. Board eligible and medically licensed, occupy an independent Assistant Professor-equivalent position at a U.S. institution, and apply within four years of appointment through an invited institutional nomination. Candidates must commit at least 80% effort to research, work with an eligible mentor, and submit applications by January 19, 2027, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
