David Baumgardt Memorial Fellowship

About this program

The Leo Baeck Institute offers one annual David Baumgardt Memorial Fellowship of up to $7,500 for scholars whose research relates to David Baumgardt’s writings or interests, including ethics, Wissenschaft des Judentums, and the modern intellectual history of German-speaking Jewry. Fellowship recipients are expected to make extensive use of LBI facilities in New York, particularly the David Baumgardt Collection, and complete the award by year-end. Applicants must be affiliated with an accredited higher-education institution and submit a CV, project description, financial plan, degree and enrollment documentation, and, where applicable, transcripts and two recommendation letters. Applications are due November 16, with decisions announced in January.
