About this program
The American Anthropological Association offers the David M. Schneider Award for an original, unpublished graduate student essay presenting a fresh and innovative approach to anthropology, with recognition at the AAA Annual Meeting. Applicants must be anthropology graduate students admitted to PhD candidacy who have not yet received their doctorate and must be AAA members if selected. Submissions require a one-page abstract letter, two-page CV, essay of no more than 30 pages, and a certification letter from an adviser or department official. The deadline is March 1, 2026.
