Dee Saunders Dundee Memorial Research Grant — Community-Oriented Malacology Research Award

About this program

The American Malacological Society offers the Dee Saunders Dundee Memorial Research Grant to support community-oriented malacological research—especially community science, environmental justice, conservation, and projects that actively involve community collaborators—with typically 1–3 awards per year and a maximum award of $1,500 (institutional overhead is not permitted); awardees are encouraged to present at an AMS annual meeting and must submit a short research summary for the AMS Newsletter within one year. Eligible applicants must be current AMS members; student applicants should develop proposals with an advisor or mentor and research must focus on molluscan aspects of the topic. Applications are due March 31 and must be submitted via the AMS online form as a single PDF named LastName_DundeeCommunity.pdf containing a 2‑page research proposal (title, goals, methods, timetable, publication plans, budget/justification; permits noted; literature cited may extend to a third page) plus a CV. Proposals are evaluated on novelty and importance, methodological appropriateness and feasibility, clarity of writing, appropriate use of funds, and contribution to the applicant’s development as a malacologist.
