Derek Denny-Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award

The American Neurological Association offers the Derek Denny‑Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award to recognize early‑ to mid‑career neurologists and neuroscientists who have made outstanding basic or clinical advances toward prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or cure of neurological diseases. Up to three awards (Physician‑Scientist—Basic, Physician‑Scientist—Clinical, Neuroscientist) are conferred and include a $1,000 honorarium, complimentary ANA Annual Meeting registration, a commemorative plaque, and up to $1,500 travel reimbursement. Applicants must be ANA members within the first 12 years of their faculty career at the assistant/associate (or equivalent) level, actively engaged in academic neurology or neuroscience, and must present at the Derek Denny‑Brown Young Neurological Scholar Symposium; full professors and prior awardees are ineligible. Nominations require a primary letter from a senior neuroscience colleague, a seconding letter (preferably external), the nominee’s CV, and a one‑page research description citing three recent publications; self‑nominations and reapplications are allowed.
