Research funding
Neuroscience

Neuroscience sits awkwardly across the funding world. The work is expensive, the federal programs are heavily contested, and the private funders split between broad brain-science foundations and a long list of organizations attached to one disease.
The disease-attached funders are the ones people underuse. The Neurological Foundation runs the largest block of programs here. The Ruth K. Broad Biomedical Research Foundation, the American Brain Foundation, CurePSP and the Brain Research Foundation each fund work tied to their own condition, and the review pools are small. If your project touches one of those conditions even at an angle, the odds are better there than in a general competition.

Fellowships are the largest category, ahead of research projects, so this money mostly supports people early in their careers rather than established labs. Postdocs are eligible for more of these programs than any other stage. The median award is $20,000 and only a fifth carry a dated deadline.
Work a neuroscientist would call theirs is often filed under health, psychology or biology, so check those hubs too.
