Distinguished Education Service Award (DESA)

The Broadcast Education Association (BEA) presents the Distinguished Education Service Award (DESA) annually to an individual whose exceptional achievement or sustained service has made a significant, lasting contribution to electronic media education. The award recognizes service to BEA, students, colleagues, institutions, and the broader professional community. Nominees must be current BEA individual, institutional, or associate members with a substantial record of service; current BEA board members are ineligible, though they may submit nominations. Nominations open September 1, close December 31 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and the recipient is announced in mid-February and honored at the April 2027 BEA Annual Convention.
