Domestic Public Policy Program

About this program

Smith Richardson Foundation’s Domestic Public Policy Program funds research and projects that help the public and policymakers understand and address critical U.S. policy challenges by supporting evaluation of existing policies and development of new ideas to inform public debate. Priority areas include fiscal practices at the national, state, and municipal levels; human capital development and K–12 productivity (e.g., teacher quality, curricula); postsecondary education; strategies to boost long-term economic growth and opportunity; and criminal justice reforms that reduce costs while protecting public safety. Funding supports rigorous research, policy analysis, and evaluations with clear implications for policymaking. Applicants are expected to be research institutions, policy organizations, or nonprofits (including academic teams) proposing methodologically sound projects closely aligned with the program’s priorities.
