Dorothy M. and Earl S. Hoffman Award

About this program

AVS, the professional society, offers the Dorothy M. and Earl S. Hoffman Award to recognize and encourage excellence in graduate studies in sciences and technologies of interest to AVS; the scholarship provides a cash award, a certificate, and reimbursed travel to the AVS International Symposium. Eligible nominees must be registered graduate students at accredited institutions and are normally expected not to graduate before award selection; an individual may receive the award only once. Following a spring/summer Awards Committee review, the top ten nominees are invited to a virtual interview in late summer, from which eight awardees are chosen and one top student is designated the Hoffman Award recipient based on research excellence and academic record.
