Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design

About this program

Sponsored by the Garden Club of America and administered by the Landscape Architecture Foundation, the Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship awards $5,000 annually to support graduate-level study and research in garden history and design at a leading American institution. Proposed work may address garden restoration, community and public gardens, gardens’ healing properties, or ecological and regenerative design. Applicants must be exceptional graduate students who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, with selection based on academic qualifications and alignment with GCA objectives. Applications are due February 1 and require a faculty advisor endorsement, a second recommendation letter, a four-page proposal, and a one-page budget, along with standard application materials.
