About this program
The National Speleological Society offers the Dr. Albert & Ethel Ogden Geosciences Research Fellowship to support undergraduate and graduate research in cave- and karst-related geosciences, with awards up to $1,500 annually. Applicants must be enrolled undergraduate or graduate students and NSS members at the time of proposal submission, with domestic applicants given priority. Eligible projects should focus on geosciences (e.g., geology, hydrogeology, geomorphology, geochemistry, geophysics) or interdisciplinary work that demonstrably advances these fields; recipients must comply with applicable laws, ethical standards, and NSS cave-conservation policies and must acknowledge NSS support in publications. Proposals are accepted any time but must be received at least one month before the committee’s biannual decisions (by May 1 or December 1; inaugural 2026 deadline extended to June 1).
