Dr Euan MacKie Legacy Fund — scientific analyses for Neolithic to Iron Age Scotland

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland's Dr Euan MacKie Legacy Fund offers grants of up to £2,000 to pay for SUERC laboratory-based scientific analyses supporting research on Neolithic, Bronze Age or Iron Age Scotland, with particular encouragement for projects on brochs, duns, vitrified forts and stone circles. Fundable analyses include radiocarbon dating, stable carbon, nitrogen and sulphur isotope analysis of bone collagen, and strontium (87Sr/86Sr) and oxygen isotope analysis of tooth enamel, and awards are calculated using SUERC's current prices. Applicants must apply using the Society's grant application form and email submissions to Dr Helen Spencer at grants@socantscot.org by the two annual deadlines (30 April and 30 November), with decisions communicated by end of June and end of the following January respectively. Grants are awarded on the recommendation of the Grants and Awards Committee and approval of Council; the fund has been extended for a further two years and donations to enlarge the pool are invited.
