The International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL) awards the biennial Dr. Norman Salem Jr. Early Career Award to an investigator who has published significant research on lipids and fatty acids; the prize includes US $4,500 and registration to the ISSFAL Biennial Congress. Nominees must have received their first professional post‑graduate degree within the past 10 years (or within 13 years with an approved career break of up to 3 years for maternity/paternity or health), be ISSFAL members in good standing, and demonstrate significant contributions (e.g., first‑author patents or high‑impact publications) in the field. Nominations must be submitted by ISSFAL members (one nomination per member, excluding Nominations and Awards Committee members) and include a primary nomination letter, two supporting letters, the nominee’s CV with degree date, a research summary, and a complete publication list; completed materials are due to the Honorary Secretary at honsecretary@issfal.org by December 31 following the biennial congress.
