About this program

Dravet Syndrome Foundation’s Transformational Science Grants provide $500,000 over three years to support high-impact basic, translational, and clinical research focused on Dravet syndrome, with priority areas including mechanisms of epileptogenesis, improved models, cellular/genetic pathogenesis, SUDEP, development of novel therapies (including gene-therapy approaches), and natural history/outcome measures. Awards are intended for established, independent investigators (MD/PhD/DO or equivalent) with substantial preliminary data who hold or have an offer for a faculty appointment and are affiliated with an academic or research institution; private companies are ineligible and applicants may be US or foreign-based. Proposals are peer-reviewed using NIH-style criteria (preliminary data, design, feasibility, investigator qualifications, overall impact); the $500,000 total must include indirect costs not exceeding 10%, and awardees must provide annual written updates and present findings at DSF’s Research Roundtable.
