About this program

Diabetes New Zealand Research Foundation (DNZRF) Fellowship 2026 funds an individual to undertake diabetes-related health delivery research in Aotearoa New Zealand, providing up to NZ$150,000 in total including salary/stipend (scaled to qualifications/experience) and a NZ$20,000 contribution toward direct consumable costs. Funding supports 1.0 FTE for 12 months or part‑time over up to 36 months, and DNZRF does not pay institutional overheads so host institutions must supply overheads and other required resources; a host support letter is required. Applicants must have principal domicile and place of employment in Aotearoa New Zealand, typically hold at least an undergraduate degree with five years’ cumulative relevant experience (career interruptions considered), and the applicant and/or supervisor are expected to be members of the NZ Society for the Study of Diabetes. Proposed research must be directly relevant to diabetes delivery in New Zealand, align with DNZRF and New Zealand Health Research Attributes (including Mana Tāngata and equity), include end‑user engagement from the outset (Kaupapa Māori approaches supported), and applications close midday 16 March 2026.
