Early-career Advocacy Fellowship

About this program

The American Physiological Society offers a two-year Early-career Advocacy Fellowship (contingent on funding) to engage and train early-career investigators in science advocacy, providing mentorship from Science Policy Committee members and up to $1,500 in support. Program activities include a virtual orientation and Capitol Hill meeting training, a luncheon with SPC members at the American Physiology Summit, participation in Capitol Hill meetings, active contribution to at least one SPC project (e.g., drafting comments or developing advocacy resources), and a letter-writing workshop. Applicants must be APS members who are current graduate students or earned a doctoral degree within the past 12 years, reside in the U.S. during the award period, and demonstrate strong communication skills and interest in advocacy; applications (CV, one-page letter of intent, description of prior advocacy, and one letter of support ≤300 words) are submitted online and reviewed by the SPC, with possible virtual interviews.
