Early Career Investigator Award

About this program

The Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists will recognize five early-career researchers through its Early Career Investigator Award, which supports presentation of outstanding abstracts at the 2027 Annual Meeting and provides each recipient with a $1,000 travel award. Priority is given to original, hypothesis-driven studies addressing the pathophysiology of cardiac, thoracic, or vascular disease or novel mechanism-based therapies. Applicants must be SCA members enrolled in anesthesiology residency or cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship, or have completed training within the previous 12 months, and must have performed most of the research. By December 1, 2026, applicants must submit an eligible abstract, senior mentor recommendation letter, and NIH biosketches for both the applicant and mentor; all authors must complete disclosure forms.
