Early Career Mentored Research Award

About this program

The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) offers the Early Career Mentored Research Award to support new investigators conducting methodologically sound, simulation-based research (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods), with up to two awards of $10,000 each to advance projects likely to impact the simulation field and the applicant’s career. Applicants should be early career researchers proposing innovative simulation-focused studies; SSH lists priority topics (e.g., fidelity versus resource trade-offs, debriefing methods, optimal training dose, XR versus non‑XR comparisons, in situ simulation impacts) but will consider strong proposals outside these areas. A required Letter of Intent must include a project summary, research question/hypothesis, methodology, timeline, budget, mentor information, supporting references, CV, and IRB approval if available; selected LOIs will be invited to submit full proposals and finalists will participate in a live video interview, with winners announced at IMSH 2027.
