Early-Career Scholars Research Fund

About this program

The History of Economics Society offers the Early-Career Scholars Research Fund, providing reimbursements of up to $1,500 (with up to four awards annually) to support research-related travel and accommodation for activities such as archival visits or oral-history recording. Eligible applicants are PhD candidates or scholars within four years post-PhD who lack other funding for the proposed research. Applications (deadlines May 15 and December 1) require a brief project description (≤750 words with full costings and disclosure of other funding applications), a two-page CV, and a supervisor’s letter of support submitted to office@historyofeconomics.org. Awards are reimbursed upon submission of receipts (air, ground transport, hotel; up to $50/day for food/misc. without receipt), payments are made by electronic bank transfer (international transfers may require IBAN/additional paperwork), and recipients are expected to attend at least one HES conference within two years.
