About this program

The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) seeks EDUC8 Awards to fund comprehensive training programs that prepare undergraduate through master’s students for careers in regenerative medicine by supporting coursework, paid hands‑on internships, mentorship, community outreach and alumni tracking. EDUC8 replaces and consolidates the Bridges and COMPASS programs under three paths (COMPASS, Bridges, Dual) with awards up to $3.237M, $4.589M, or $6.918M respectively for up to five years to support curriculum development, internships, recruitment and program administration. Eligible applicants are California public or private non‑profit colleges or universities offering relevant STEM or regenerative medicine degree or certificate programs; COMPASS applicants must have an accredited bachelor’s program, Bridges/Dual applicants must not hold a CIRM‑funded Major Facility or Shared Research Laboratory under Proposition 71, and institutions may submit only one EDUC8 application per cycle. Application forms will be available in late 2026 and are due April 2027, consultations are available now (education@cirm.ca.gov), and internship host sites must be located in California.
