About this program

The Society for Experimental Biology (SEB) offers the Educational Research and Development Grant 2026 to fund evidence‑based educational research and development in higher‑education experimental biology, supporting costs such as materials, data collection/maintenance, short‑term assistance, collaborator travel and event registration to produce transferable teaching resources. Awards are up to £2,000 for SEB members and up to £200 for non‑members; the grant does not cover academic staff salaries, equipment/consumables that remain locally, outreach to schools/publics, or retrospective costs. Applicants worldwide with a minimum one‑year employment contract or guaranteed one‑year teaching‑focused funding are eligible, and collaborative projects involving at least two institutions are favoured. Applications are accepted year‑round in two rounds (31 January and 30 June deadlines), reviewed by SEB peer reviewers, and successful applicants must acknowledge SEB, claim awards within three months, and submit project reports (annual progress reports if >1 year).
