Educator Award

About this program

The Society of Biological Psychiatry’s Educator Award is an honorific recognition for individuals or SOBP-designated committees/groups who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to psychiatry education (undergraduate, graduate, continuing medical education, or public-facing initiatives); no monetary amount is specified. Eligible individual nominees must have completed professional training and be faculty-level educators or equivalent; group nominees must be SOBP-designated committees, task forces, or groups; nominees need not be SOBP members but only SOBP members may submit one nomination per award cycle. Individuals must submit their own nomination package by email to sobp@sobp.org (letter of nomination ≤2 pages, one support letter, biosketch ≤5 pages, and an Education Portfolio: philosophy ≤1 page, goals ≤1 page, summary of contributions ≤2 pages); groups submit via the conference portal with a nomination letter, one support letter, and a Group Education Portfolio (goals/approach ≤2 pages and summary ≤2 pages). Nominations are reviewed by the Honorific Awards Committee and recommended to the SOBP Council, with selection based on educational quality, innovation, engagement, and breadth/scope of impact.
