The Ellis R. Lippincott Award, established in 1975 and presented by the Society for Applied Spectroscopy in cooperation with The Coblentz Society and Optica, honors distinguished, lifetime contributions to vibrational spectroscopy. It recognizes pioneering scientific advances—instrumentation, methodological breakthroughs, or transformative applications—that have significantly advanced Raman, infrared, and related vibrational techniques. Eligible candidates are established researchers worldwide whose body of work demonstrates unique and sustained impact in the field, with recipients chosen from peer nominations submitted to the sponsoring societies.
