EMBO Scientific Exchange Grants

About this program

EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) funds Scientific Exchange Grants to support short-term international research exchanges that foster new collaborations and transfer expertise between laboratories in EMBC Member States and EMBC/EMBO global partners (Chile, India, Singapore, Taiwan); applications are accepted year‑round and grants cover travel and country-dependent subsistence only. Applicants must be active researchers at any career stage with at least one year of graduate‑level research experience, employed at institutions in EMBC Member States or the listed global partners, or funded through specified JST programmes (ASPIRE, FOREST, PRESTO, ACT‑X, ERATO, CREST). Exchanges between laboratories within the same country are ineligible, visits funded as extensions of other programmes or to work with former supervisors/previously visited labs or to attend courses/conferences are not allowed, and visits outside the listed countries are only considered in exceptional cases with justification. Awardees are required to return to their home laboratory immediately after the visit and remain there for at least six consecutive months, with proof of return mandated.
