Emerging Crises Oral History Research Fund

About this program

The Oral History Association offers the Emerging Crises Oral History Research Fund to provide expedited support of up to $4,000 for oral history research documenting crises (e.g., wars, natural disasters, political/economic/ethnic repression) in the United States and internationally. Awards may be used for travel, per diem, transcription, and other reasonable research expenses; equipment purchases and indirect costs are not allowed. Individual applicants or single projects conducting oral-history work in crisis situations are eligible, and Association membership is not required. Applicants must submit a one-page research proposal outlining the crisis and interview plans, a detailed budget with justification, and a current CV; committee recommendations are forwarded to the Association and made within six weeks of the application deadline.
