Emerging Leader for African Agricultural Transformation Award

OCP North America offers the Emerging Leader for African Agricultural Transformation Award to recognize one emerging scientist for an exceptionally significant individual achievement in African agriculture; the award includes $2,000, a one‑year membership in ASA, CSSA, and SSSA if needed, and waived Annual Meeting registration. Nominees must hold a Master’s or PhD awarded less than 15 years ago or be under 40 years old, and their work must show measurable, transformational impact on African agriculture (e.g., soil fertility, crop nutrition, agronomy, climate adaptation/mitigation, value‑chain optimization) with evaluation emphasizing credibility, integrity, quantifiable impact, creativity, and innovation. Nominations are accepted January through March 25th and require English submissions including nominee and nominator CVs, a 1,500‑word Emerging Leader statement, explanation of the nominator’s direct knowledge, years of experience, and reference letters from organizations signed by an executive officer; self‑nominations are permitted and nominators need not be ASA/CSSA/SSSA members in the first year. Members of the ACS Awards Committee and the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Boards are ineligible to nominate or be nominated.
