Emerging Voices Fellowship

About this program

PEN America Los Angeles offers the Emerging Voices Fellowship, a virtual five‑month mentorship program that supports early‑career writers from communities traditionally underrepresented in publishing by providing one‑on‑one mentorship, introductions to editors, agents, and publishers, and workshops on craft, editing, marketing, and platform building. Fellows receive professional resources including a public reading, a one‑year PEN America membership, a professional headshot, a submission guide, masterclasses, and partner discounts. Applicants must be early‑career writers who identify as Black, Indigenous, people of color, LGBTQ+, immigrants, writers with disabilities, or live outside urban centers; applicants are typically notified by late June.
