Estella Canziani Post-Graduate Bursary for Research

About this program

The Folklore Society offers the annual Estella Canziani Post-Graduate Bursary for Research, a competitive award of up to £1,500 to support research-related costs for postgraduate folklore studies at UK higher-education institutions. Funding may be used for research materials and equipment, transport and maintenance for domestic or international fieldwork, and possibly conference attendance when presenting, but cannot be applied to tuition or registration fees; awards run for one year or less. Applicants must be registered on a full- or part-time research programme (PhD, MPhil, MA or equivalent) at a UK university and may submit only one application per calendar year; recipients may request further assistance for up to two additional consecutive years. Applications require a completed form, a 1,000-word project statement specifying the amount requested and its use, a brief CV and two academic testimonials, submitted as scanned signed pages by email to thefolkloresociety@gmail.com between 1 October and the first Friday in December, with notifications by the end of January; recipients must deposit a digital copy of their thesis with the Society on completion.
