Ethel Mary Read (EMR) Research Grant

About this program

The Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales offers the Ethel Mary Read (EMR) Research Grant providing up to AUD 3,000 for one financial year to support short-term zoological research in Australasia, covering minor costs such as pilot studies, field travel, or equipment (conference/workshop travel is ineligible). Applications close annually on 30 April with awards announced and paid in July, and proposals are assessed by the EMR Grants Committee against five weighted criteria including quality of science, feasibility, applicant track record and conservation relevance. Eligibility is limited to current RZS NSW members for the duration of the grant; applicants may be students, early-career or non-academic researchers and need not hold a degree but must demonstrate the scientific competence to complete the project, and only one grant may be held per project.
