Excellence in JEDI Award

About this program

Offered by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers, the Excellence in JEDI Award recognizes individuals for outstanding contributions to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in geoscience education, including program development, mentorship, communication, or scholarly work. The recipient receives a complimentary one‑year NAGT membership and an invitation to present at a DEI committee–sponsored event, with possible support to attend the meeting. Nominations are submitted via an online form and may be made by current NAGT members or self‑nominations; required materials are a CV/resume, at least one letter from a current NAGT member (self‑nominations may include a self‑written letter), and 1–2 additional letters documenting specific JEDI activities. Nominees are evaluated by the NAGT DEI Committee using stated criteria and a rubric, nominations are retained for up to three years, the awardee may remain anonymous, and nominations are due April 15.
