Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award

About this program

The Archaeological Institute of America’s Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award recognizes one educator annually for outstanding undergraduate archaeology teaching and includes a certificate presented at the AIA annual meeting. Nominees must be currently teaching, have at least five years of teaching experience, demonstrate innovative or interdisciplinary pedagogy and attention to diversity and inclusion, and have maintained AIA membership in good standing for at least two consecutive years. Nominators must submit a nomination letter and the nominee’s CV by February 15, 2027. Candidates advancing from the initial review must provide two additional recommendation letters, three diverse syllabi, and a diversity statement by March 15, 2027.
