About this program
The Archaeological Institute of America and Center for American Archeology jointly sponsor the Felicia A. Holton Book Award, presented annually for a major nonfiction work that communicates the importance and excitement of archaeology to a broad adult, nonacademic audience. Eligible books must be well researched, engaging, accurate, responsibly written, and offer new insight, with submissions due February 1, 2027. Authors, publishers, and AIA members may nominate books published in English within the three calendar years preceding the award year and available in the United States and Canada. Books may be nominated only once, and works by current governing board or committee members are ineligible.
