Fellowship of Graduate Student Travel (FGST)

About this program

The Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) Student Support Committee offers the Fellowship of Graduate Student Travel (FGST), awarding 3–4 fellowships annually of up to $2,000 to support graduate student travel and related expenses to distant research laboratories, museums, field sites, or stations for fieldwork, training in specialized techniques, or access to unique equipment or collections. Awards are paid to individuals, may not be used for institutional indirect costs, and do not support travel to meetings, stipends, publication costs, or purchase of standard lab equipment. Eligible applicants are graduate students who are active SICB members (non-members must join for the grant year); previous SICB award recipients (GIAR or FGST) are ineligible and students may apply to only one SICB student program (FGST or GIAR). Applications are submitted electronically via SICB forms and must include a proposal (≤3,000 characters) plus budget justification, research location, and available facilities; proposals are evaluated on significance, experimental design, feasibility, and reasonableness of requested funds.
