First Book Grant for Research on Minoritized Christian Communities in North America

About this program

The Louisville Institute offers First Book Grants of up to $55,000 for research leave during the 2027–2028 academic year to support early-career scholars completing a first scholarly book, or a second book when required for tenure, on minoritized Christian communities and related faith, institutional, and social issues in the United States or Canada. Eligible applicants must hold a terminal research degree, be pre-tenure faculty in full-time tenure-track or renewable academic positions at accredited U.S. or Canadian institutions, and have experienced significant professional adversity. Applicants must secure release from teaching and administrative duties, submit a complete online application by January 15, 2027, and attend the required Winter Seminar in January 2028.
