FNRE Research Grant

About this program

The Foundation for Neonatal Research and Education (FNRE) provides Research Grants up to $5,000 to support neonatal nursing research projects, funding only essential research expenses (no PI/co‑investigator salaries, indirect/overhead, most capital equipment, or travel for presentation). Applications (one typed/printed copy) must be received at the FNRE Central Office by May 1; awards provide 50% initially with the remainder released upon submission of receipts, cover a one‑year funding period, and require semiannual progress reports and a final report within 90 days. Eligible applicants are professionally active neonatal nurses (including students) who have been active members for more than one year of a neonatal nursing professional association and who demonstrate ongoing neonatal education (≥10 contact hours in the past 24 months or current enrollment); the applicant must serve as PI and FNRE awardees or board/Review Committee members from the past five years are ineligible. IRB approval or verification of exemption must accompany the application and be in place before funds are released, and applicants with limited research experience are expected to identify a mentor; students must include their advisor/chair’s signature.
