Foundation Scholarships (Scholarships for Law Students in Natural Resources and Energy Law)

About this program

The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law offers scholarships to students at its Constituent Law Schools to support study and careers in natural resources and energy law, administering both unrestricted Foundation scholarships and endowed awards (including the Frances Hartogh living‑expense scholarship); recent awards have ranged from $2,000 to $15,000 and may cover partial to full tuition. Most scholarships (except Frances Hartogh) are paid directly to the law school for tuition, and awards are made by the Foundation’s Scholarships Committee based on academic ability, leadership, commitment to the field, potential contribution, financial need, and references. Eligible applicants are full‑time JD students enrolled at a Constituent Law School, LLM students, and incoming 1Ls who have applied to a Constituent School (combined JD/masters students follow the JD deadline). Complete online applications and all required attachments must be submitted by February 28 for JD applicants and March 15 for LLM/SJD applicants; incomplete or late applications will not be considered (questions: scholarships@fnrel.org).
